Content Researcher
PinkNews is the largest LGBTQ+ media publisher in the world. Our mission is to make the world a gayer place, creating the essential place for LGBTQ+ people to connect with one another and with the culture-driven content that matters most to them. We publish up to twenty video stories per day on all social media platforms. The job of the researcher is to support the producers and the rapid creation and delivery of our video news content.
Salary: £25,700 - £28,000 (the band for this role allows for applicants with varying levels of experience and expertise. We will discuss salary expectations during the interview stages)
Location: Hybrid - London office 1-2 days per week
Shift patterns: This role will work on shifts across the week and weekends, working a maximum of 1 in 4 weekends

What does the role of a Content Researcher involve?
We are looking for a keen, socially native individual to source the best content on the internet, from clips of celebrities to current trending clips of politicians speaking in parliament. The job of the researcher is to support our production team to create content that ensures PinkNews is at the forefront of the LGBTQ+ digital publishing and storytelling landscape.
You’ll work closely with the producers and wider production team to learn the process of journalistic video content creation in a fast-paced publishing environment. With the opportunity to learn about social publishing, social analytics, video editing and social content creation (creating posts, scheduling content, script writing etc.)
Responsibilities of a Content Researcher:
- Support the team's workflow by contributing to social media video edits by sourcing video/image assets, contributing story ideas and trending clips across our owned and operated platforms
- Create documents for stories where scripts may be requested
- One full edit episode per week, which includes but not limited to, writing the script, editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and uploading edit and title to CMS
- Using AI software such as ChatGPT or Bard to generate research docs for news stories and voice overs for scripts
- Be able to credit correctly and flag when videos are outside of our usage rights i.e external image agencies
- Research and assess the performance of our content to see if it would work well on international channels
- Compile and format scripts for VO artists with headlines and SRT files, using automated translators to translate scripts into French, German and Spanish. Uploading VO and sharing on our PinkNews internal files
Skills and experience for a Content Researcher:
- Ability to work independently to support the producers, being proactive and offering support as needed
- Basic understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro, Experience a bonus
- Understanding of fair use and licensing of online content
- Experience or knowledge of Journalism
- A keen interest in LGBTQ+ culture, both pop and political and Entertainment
- Native understanding of social platforms such as Snap, YouTube and TikTok
- Excellent organisation skills for folder management, asset collection and storage.
- Understanding of AI platforms such as ChatGPT
- A keen eye for viral content amongst a range of social platforms
